They're all Rick Perrys now...

I remember way back when Rick's anti Obama rhetoric seemed like a risky move. Obama was still fresh off a huge win... Obama was still hugely popular... even somewhat popular in Texas due to the honey moon bounce...

I remember political peeps in the bubble speculating about whether opposition to Obama by Rick would make Rick vulnerable for the general election... or even that someone might try to play the race card and say that Rick's anti Obama attitude is just about racism...

Oh how times change in a hurry.

POLITICO had an interesting article about how Rick's anti federal government anti Obama strategy that he cranked up in early 2009 is now becoming the norm all across the country... everyone... even some Democrats... are running against or at least away from Obama (link). Excerpt follows...

They’re all Rick Perrys now.

A year and a half after the governor of Texas energized his reelection campaign by casting himself as an antagonist to President Barack Obama, Republican gubernatorial candidates across the country are following his example.

“It’s always best in politics to use things that work. People are fed up with what’s going on in Washington,” said Republican strategist Dave Carney, a Perry adviser who called Obama “the single greatest asset to Republicans around the country.”

Now even Bill White runs away from Obama personally even if he is a kindred spirit on issues and party labels...

Hey now, campaign characters. Be nice. I know a lot of you on both sides, so I don't want any overly foul language, personal attacks on anyone other than the candidates themselves, or other party fouls. I will moderate the heck out of you if you start breaking the bounds of civility.
