Kay apparently did not learn anything when it comes to earmarks and pork (

Sen. Hutchison may need hearing aids
Didn’t Sen. Hutchison hear the voters November 2nd?
It appears that Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) will stand with liberal Republican Senators Olympia Snow and Susan Collins against earmark reform. (Now, to us in Texas, that’s a big disappointment.)
Why? Though she is a member of the Appropriations Committee, Hutchison has used earmarks to “bring home the bacon.” We don't want bacon - we want to keep more of our hard-earned dollars.
Those of us who are upset with the pork being dished out in Congress realize that earmarks are part of what politicians consider “business as usual” politics and we consider bordering on the corrupt. You okay my bridge, I’ll up you a monument and two libraries -- all at taxpayers expense. It's easy to spend somebody else's money. Particularly when there are no consequences.
That’s how we got the bridge to nowhere and the teapot museum.
Even worthwhile projects should be vetted through the appropriation process.
The November 2 election sent a loud message to Washington, D.C. and state houses across the country – we want to end the tax-and-spend politics as usual! Didn’t you hear us, Sen. Hutchison? Do you need a hearing aid?
We at Americans for Prosperity will fight to clean up the backroom dealings and “business as usual” procedures. But we need your help. Please let Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison know you want an end to earmarks and an end to politics as usual in Washington, D.C.! The vote is slated for Nov. 16 and she has an opportunity to stand up and fight for the people of Texas!
Call Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison’s office (and ask her to vote for earmark reform) at: 202-224-5922.
Kay lost to Rick after he hammered her on pork and earmarks... does she not remember the song "earmark queen" to the tune of Abba's dancing queen? Kay is clearly not running for reelection in 2012... otherwise she would be a lot smarter on this...
RickvsKay, when can we expect Dewhurst to announce his candidacy for the United States Senate in 2012 ?
ReplyDeleteI wonder if KBH knows or even cares that she's likely to face a crowded field on the GOP primary if she seeks a 4th term in 2 years and she should take a note from Phil Gramm, who retired after 17 years in the Senate in 2002 and an old saying, "When it's time to go, it's time to go."
