A modest proposal...

A great blog by Kay McGarrity Desmond of the Houston Examiner (link). Excerpt follows...

A part-time governor is a good thing

In the gubernatorial contest in Texas one of Democratic candidate Bill White’s charges against Rick Perry is that Perry is a part time governor. Last month White released copies of the governor’s official schedule in an attempt to prove that Perry was not working for the people of Texas. This line of attack, that the governor does not apply himself more to micromanaging the state, seems more of and endorsement than an indictment of the governor.

If Bill White’s argument against Perry is that he does not involve himself enough in the running of the state, it falls flat. The best thing a government can do is provide as much freedom to its citizens and allow them to run their businesses and their lives as they see fit.
This young lady writes very effectively... please read her entire blog... she details where Bill White is a big government interventionist...

Judging by a couple of the comments, schools aren't teaching satire anymore. Someone needs to brush up on their Jonathan Swift...

The point she is making is that even if Bill White's attach was factually right... which it isn't... that Rick was only working 7 hours a week... even if that was the case... who cares...

The results speak for themselves... Texas is a national triumph right now economically... everyone knows it... whatever Rick is doing or not doing... keep doing it... or not doing it... whatever...

Hey now, campaign characters. Be nice. I know a lot of you on both sides, so I don't want any overly foul language, personal attacks on anyone other than the candidates themselves, or other party fouls. I will moderate the heck out of you if you start breaking the bounds of civility.
