Washington's clueless idiocy on what is going on in Texas...

Sometimes I feel like we are still living in the telegraph era... where Washington and Texas are worlds apart... and rumors filter in in their own ways about what is happening in the far flung places. Battle reports trickle in on horse back, and information is filtered and slanted and full of inconsistencies and inaccuracies.

Last week I called Chris Cillizza an idiot for rating the race in Texas as a toss up. The Fix has another revealing comment that shows where they got their impression of this double digit race's closeness (link). Excerpt follows...
While it's unclear just how intense the new scrutiny on White will be, the new report certainly blunts the momentum he has been claiming of late in the campaign.
Momentum?

Momentum is not something a campaign can claim when the latest poll shows them down by 9 points...

Momentum is not something a campaign can claim when they attract a handful of peeps to their widely advertised live online forum...

Robert Pratt had a good take at the time (link). Excerpt follows...

Given the self-delusional world inhabited by many Liberals, it comes as no surprise that many of them are giddy with a Washington Compost report which claims the race for governor is now a toss-up.

The very liberal, and advocacy prone, D.C. Newspaper published this: “Texas (Move from Lean Republican to Toss Up): Former Houston Mayor Bill White (D) has more money in the bank than Gov. Rick Perry (R) and polling shows the contest close. It's still Texas in a good Republican year, which should help Perry, but White is running an effective campaign to capitalize on discontent directed at the incumbent.”

Question number one: What polling is the Washington Post viewing? No poll of any reputable nature has shown White getting anywhere near 50% yet, all have shown Perry either a point or two below or above 50%.

Question number two: Exactly what has White done to effectively get the Perry camp off-balance? Nothing. But, White's campaign remains on the defensive on immigration, gun rights and Washington versus Texas issues – some of the questioning coming from his fellow Democrats.

When it comes to economics and national security, Dems have long lived in a fog. To some degree, they are just as lost in politics.

Momentum? Give me a break...

Rick has been out spent every single race he has run... Bill White's money advantage... what I am guessing they based their rating on... just isn't that great... this is not a year for a Democrat to beat one of the best Republican governors in the United States...

Clueless peeps Washington rating a race a toss up because of things they heard from the losing side? Hey... he said he has momentum... so he must have momentum... even though there is no evidence of momentum out there other than maybe among the out of touch media who all endorse the more liberal candidate every time.

Hey now, campaign characters. Be nice. I know a lot of you on both sides, so I don't want any overly foul language, personal attacks on anyone other than the candidates themselves, or other party fouls. I will moderate the heck out of you if you start breaking the bounds of civility.
