Gov. Rick Perry strolled into a friendly crowd of educators at the Texas Classroom Teachers Association conference on Friday and credited them for improving student performance.
“I don’t care how you measure it, Texas teachers are making an impact on the students and they are making progress,” Perry said.

In January, the group backed Perry’s decision not to apply for the federal Race to the Top grant program. Texas could have won as much as $700 million for education reform efforts but Perry argued that it required Texas to cede too much control to the federal government. His mention of the decision drew a rousing response from the crowd.
Teachers support Rick's rejection of Race to the Top? Who knew?

Hey now, campaign characters. Be nice. I know a lot of you on both sides, so I don't want any overly foul language, personal attacks on anyone other than the candidates themselves, or other party fouls. I will moderate the heck out of you if you start breaking the bounds of civility.
