Rick got 97% of his campaign money in Texas. Bill White got 71%... with a quarter of it coming from Washington...

I already blogged a much more comprehensive set of thoughts on the June 30 fundraising numbers (link), but here are a few interesting items I overlooked (link). Excerpt follows...

Perry collected 97 percent of his money in Texas.

White got 71 percent of his money in state and a quarter of it from Washington, D.C., with more than $1 million coming from the Democratic Governors Association.

A check of IRS filings shows a lot of the Governor's Association money originated in the Houston area, including $400,000 from trial lawyer Steve Mostyn; $125,000 from the firm of Williams, Kherkher, Hart and Bounds; and $75,000 from trial lawyer Walter Umphrey, of Beaumont. Umphrey and Mostyn also donated $25,000 each directly to White's campaign.

Bill White... lots of trial lawyer money... lots of Washington, D.C. money. Lots of big shady labor union money... this report will be the gift that keeps on giving for Rick's peeps...

That 97% Texas money versus 71% for Bill White figure is pretty dramatic too... as is the notion that the Democratic Governors Association is responsible for such a big chunk of Bill White's money while Rick has not gotten anything from the RGA...

Hey now, campaign characters. Be nice. I know a lot of you on both sides, so I don't want any overly foul language, personal attacks on anyone other than the candidates themselves, or other party fouls. I will moderate the heck out of you if you start breaking the bounds of civility.
