During her unsuccessful campaign for governor, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison frequently talked about the need to rebuild the Republican Party in Dallas County and other urban centers.
Despite losing her primary battle against Rick Perry , Hutchison appears committed to helping local GOP candidates in their November fights with Democrats.
On Thursday Hutchison is the special guest at a fund-raising luncheon for Wade Emmert, the Republican nominee for county judge. The fund-raiser is being held at Maggiano's at Northpark Mall.
And on Oct. 29th the senator is headlining a lunchtime rally for the Dallas County Republican Party at Eddie Deen's ranch. Party leaders are asking for a $25 donation for the event at Eddie Deen's. It also features the area's Congressional delegation.
Kay may not have had great grassroots support, and she got thumped by more than 20 points... but she raised and spent a lot of money in the primary against Rick... in fact she spent more than Rick in the primary... the woman can raise the dollars.... and although she depleted her entire war chest of funds... if there is anything that would scare other Republicans away in 2012 it would be her ability to raise a lot of money...
Then again if it turns out to be Dewhurst or even Abbott wants to run, they are also big self funders and fundraisers respectively who have a lot of money on hand...
Will Bill White and Kay both run in 2012 for senate? How weird of a de ja vu would that be for the Texas political world?

Hey now, campaign characters. Be nice. I know a lot of you on both sides, so I don't want any overly foul language, personal attacks on anyone other than the candidates themselves, or other party fouls. I will moderate the heck out of you if you start breaking the bounds of civility.
