Twin blogs from Burka on Annise Parker's truth telling damage to Bill White...

Annise Parker has been a figure in the gubernatorial race so far... I wouldn't go so far as to call her a key or central figure... but she has been a figure...

Why?

Early in her new term as mayor she said... and I quote...

“For years now, we have spent more money than we have taken in. You can't spend more than you earn. It is a very unbusinesslike approach to running things.”

Burka has two blogs about it (link). Excerpt follows...

Too late, Parker recants

No one in Texas has done more harm to Bill White’s campaign (with the exception of Rick Perry and White himself, by not releasing his taxes) than his successor as mayor, Anise Parker. No sooner had she taken office last January than she threw White under the bus with the comment, “[F]or years we have spent more money than we have taken in.”

Then he blogged this just minutes later (link)...

Under the bus again

Anise Parker has done it again. Bill White has been hit by the same bus twice. After defending Bill White yesterday against Perry’s charges that he mismanaged the city’s fiscal affairs, she then had this exchange with the Chronicle’s editorial page editor, John Wilburn:
Wilburn: “What do you think about Rick Perry using your words to attack Bill White?”
Parker: “I can’t say anything that isn’t really vulgar,” Parker said (with a grin and a grimace) . . . “I said it,” she added. “Funny thing is, I said it week after week after week as controller. I said it once as mayor and bingo! Every time I talk about Metro, Rick Perry puts something on the web.”
The gift that keeps on giving.

The real zinger he left off is this though...
“My relationship with Bill White's a little tense right now.”
Speaks for itself...

  1. The way White ran Houston into the ground in terms of economically, he's toast anyways.

Perry is sooo gonna use more negative TV ads pounding away and exposing White as the liberal he really is.

Hey now, campaign characters. Be nice. I know a lot of you on both sides, so I don't want any overly foul language, personal attacks on anyone other than the candidates themselves, or other party fouls. I will moderate the heck out of you if you start breaking the bounds of civility.
