When 20 is "a lot" .... Bill White's lackluster crowds...

Bill White is having trouble drawing a crowd outside the friendly confines of UT...

He is drawing crowds of 20 people in places like Texarkana (link). Excerpt follows...
"A lot of Texas Democrats are coming back home in my campaign," White told The Associated Press. "We're going to be stronger than other statewide candidates in a long time."
I agree with this somewhat... he will get more than 29% as Chris Bell did...

White, who also was scheduled to speak Wednesday in heavily Republican Tyler, was trying to generate some outrage of his own against Perry.
"Just yesterday, another corruption scandal broke in Austin involving Rick Perry helping his friends who help him get re-elected," White told local reporters outside the coffee shop, where a small group of perhaps 20 supporters had gathered.

Okay, this "scandal" has been thoroughly debunked by lots in the press as something that was alleged years to months ago and investigated and found to be baseless (link)...
Travis County prosecutors who reviewed allegations of irregularities at the Teacher Retirement System of Texas decided months ago not to pursue the case.
Bill White just looks desperate... and his crowds of 20 people show just how little actual grassroots support he has. Bill White has all those Facebook fans and they can't convert some of them into bodies at a rally? Give me a break....

Bill White spent a day on the campaign trail with ABC news in Houston... and it was just as lackluster (link)...

In a surprise announcement, Farouk Shami, Houston businessman and former democratic candidate for governor is endorsing Rick Perry. Shami lost the Democratic primary to Bill White. Shami cited job creation as his main reason for supporting Perry.

The endorsement came as a surprise to White. On his campaign plane Monday, White said Shami pledged his support to White after the Democratic primary. It was just one of the conversations Eyewitness News had with White as we travelled the state with the Democratic candidate.

It was an exhausting day, but it's the first for an exhausting week for White. He is expected to travel to 20 different cities and 3,500 miles this week to deliver the same message -- it's time for a new governor.

Bill White has campaigned for governor since December 4. On Monday, Day 319 of this campaign, Texans finally have the chance to let him know if it's worked.

White and his wife early voted Monday morning in Houston. It was the first stop in a long day with virtually no downtime.

Waiting for the airplane at 10:15am, it was time to squeeze in his sixth radio interview of the morning.

It seems like he got a few decent crowds in the traditional strongholds... and some not so great crowds in other ones... he also seemed to wander around without purpose with his hands in his pocket... down random empty streets a little... by himself without adoring fans teeming all about him as is the case with Rick... watch to the end... Bill White looks sickly and tired... defeated...

Hey now, campaign characters. Be nice. I know a lot of you on both sides, so I don't want any overly foul language, personal attacks on anyone other than the candidates themselves, or other party fouls. I will moderate the heck out of you if you start breaking the bounds of civility.
