Rick cracked a joke at their expense at an event last week (link). Excerpt follows...
Former U.S. Education Secretary Bill Bennett, a darling of conservatives, introduced Gov. Rick Perry today at the Texas Public Policy Foundation's legislative conference in Austin.
"I gotta think Austin's changed a bit since you were here -- what year was that, Bill?" Perry deadpanned.
"Sixty-six," replied Bennett (right, 2005 AP photo), who earned a Ph.D. at the University of Texas.
Perry, warming to his diehard conservative audience: "Sixty-six, oh, man, has it ever! I promise you! Driving down Guadalupe in 1966 was kinda interesting, wasn't it? It was quite a place -- still pretty interesting." (Laughter.)
Perry continued: "In fact, I think there's some people that were there in '66 still there." (Loud laughter.)
It is funny cuz it's true... although it has become more up scale in recent years... there are still smelly drag people who look like they have lived there for generations... selling hand made goods or heat lamp grown herbs... if you know what I mean...

Hey now, campaign characters. Be nice. I know a lot of you on both sides, so I don't want any overly foul language, personal attacks on anyone other than the candidates themselves, or other party fouls. I will moderate the heck out of you if you start breaking the bounds of civility.
