There was one thing missing from Gov. Rick Perry's "tweet-up" at Collin College's Spring Creek Campus on Thursday: the tweets.
Gov. Rick Perry didn't use his cellphone to Twitter during the event Thursday, but the device sure came in handy when he wanted to show off photos of his dog to Carrie Bronsky, 6. Mike Bronsky and Kimberly Silva also attended the Collin College's Spring Campus 'tweet-up.' " style="border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; cursor: pointer; ">Sponsored by the Collin County Lincoln Society, the event was intended to showcase Perry's social media savvy and draw youths to his campaign.
Perry is known for his use of Twitter. He's even responded via the Internet tool to snarky comments about his hair. Both Republican contender Kay Bailey Hutchison and Democratic challengers in the gubernatorial race have advertised similar Twitter skills.
Perry, who walked on stage Thursday holding his cellphone, did not end up using it to Twitter.
I had no idea what this article was even talking about, but after some googling I discovered that there were about 100 tweets sent from the event, just from staff and others attending... not from Rick's personal twitter...
They used the hash tag #govtwtup, and people put up pictures and quotes from the speech. People seemed pretty excited in their tweets, but the report from the Dallas Morning News gave a different impression. A good example of how the new technologies are clashing with the old mainstream media.

Hey now, campaign characters. Be nice. I know a lot of you on both sides, so I don't want any overly foul language, personal attacks on anyone other than the candidates themselves, or other party fouls. I will moderate the heck out of you if you start breaking the bounds of civility.
