Led by Gov. Rick Perry and U.S. Sens. Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn, Texas’s Republican leadership has trash-talked most of his signature initiatives, derisively labeling his healthcare plan as "Obamacare."
State Republicans are also waging a vigorous counteroffensive to blunt Democrats’ hope of a comeback in the next two election cycles. Democrats haven’t won a statewide office in Texas since 1994, and Republicans are marshaling money, technology and political know-how to make sure the trend continues.
Bryan Preston, spokesman for the Texas Republican Party, said that Republicans agree on the need for greater community service but nevertheless believe that "based on his track record so far," the president will "inject politics into his visit."
"So our message to President Obama is simple," Preston said. "Look around while you’re here and see how conservative governance helps Texans help themselves. And keep your hands off Texas."

Obama in Texas today...
Obama is coming to Texas today (link). Excerpt follows...
That quote from Bryan Preston demonstrates the pickle that Kay is in when she criticizes Texas for being such a terrible place, or criticizing Rick for making Texas more liberal in policy (which is a completely laughable assertion)...
Texans like our state, and conservative Texans like to point to our state as proof that our model works. We have had a more shallow recession and our unemployment rate is well below the national average. Texas is doing pretty well, and we need to be able to point to Texas as proof that what Obama is doing is wrong... Kay's criticism of Texas makes her look like she is not on the same wavelength as the rest of us...

Hey now, campaign characters. Be nice. I know a lot of you on both sides, so I don't want any overly foul language, personal attacks on anyone other than the candidates themselves, or other party fouls. I will moderate the heck out of you if you start breaking the bounds of civility.
