The San Marcos Mercury has the news (link). Excerpt follows...
U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison will be the keynote speaker at one of four graduation ceremonies to be held at Texas State University May 15 and 16.
Hutchison will deliver the commencement address at the ceremony to be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16, in Strahan Coliseum on the Texas State campus. Degree candidates from the College of Applied Arts and the College of Fine Arts and Communication will attend the Saturday morning ceremony.
In 1993, Texans elected Hutchison to the United States Senate in a special election, making her the first — and, to date, the only — woman elected to represent the state in the U.S. Senate. One year later, she was re-elected to a full six-year term. In 2000, more than four million Texans voted for her re-election to a second full term — no other Texas candidate has ever captured more votes.
