The Texas House has given initial approval to a proposal to allow motorists to get "Choose Life" license plates and added a second "Choose Adoption" specialty plate.
The House action came Tuesday on a bill approved last week by the Senate.
Sales of both specialty license plates would raise money for groups that assist women considering adoption and infants waiting to be adopted.
The legislature is rapidly coming to its end, and it looks like Rick will have a few accomplishments he can campaign on including both a choose life plate and a choose adoption plate.
At the same time, a lot of the conservatives in the Texas House have been keeping tabs on their moderate Republican colleagues, and I would not be surprised to see some serious challenges to some moderate incumbents in the 2010 primaries. Republicans in the base are just cranky enough these days to kick out their moderates with seniority and replace them with conservatives.

Hey now, campaign characters. Be nice. I know a lot of you on both sides, so I don't want any overly foul language, personal attacks on anyone other than the candidates themselves, or other party fouls. I will moderate the heck out of you if you start breaking the bounds of civility.
