@BarackObama is not really him tweeting...

Rick's team brags a lot about their bounty of twitter followers. Rick himself uses twitter, and they have a campaign twitter, an intern twitter, a state twitter, and countless surrogates out there twittering and tweeting on their behalf. Kay's team is definitely on twitter also, and there are a few surrogates that stand out on her side, but she is not engaged on twitter personally. Her campaign has a twitter account, but she does not have one personally. There was a brief episode of Kay being on twitter, but it seems to have been fake and was taken down.

It turns out that Barack Obama has never personally tweeted (link). Excerpt follows...

"Let me say that I have never used Twitter," he told students in Shanghai. "I noticed that young people are very busy with these electronics. My thumbs are too clumsy to type in things on the phone."

During his election campaign, Mr Obama portrayed himself as "connected" to the people through Twitter and his ever-present blackberry phone.

Some of his more understanding fans asked if it was any real surprise that the president had little time to "tweet". "Did anyone really think he was posting on his own?" asked @Inap.

Others, however, complained that Mr Obama has a "verified account" which is supposed to prove that it is his own. "Unfollowing @BarackObama now. What a letdown!" wrote @bkuri.

What a fraud. I think there were questions early on about whether Rick really does his own twitter, but I have talked to several people who have seen him take a picture and tweet it out right in front of them... he even tweets from up on stage sometimes at bigger events. I think eventually he will need to engage a little bit more politically on twitter and not do as many puppy pics as we get closer to the primary election date...

Hey now, campaign characters. Be nice. I know a lot of you on both sides, so I don't want any overly foul language, personal attacks on anyone other than the candidates themselves, or other party fouls. I will moderate the heck out of you if you start breaking the bounds of civility.
