GOP12 blogs the numbers (link). Excerpt follows...
According to a new Rasmussen poll, Rick Perry leads Kay Bailey Hutchison in their primary battle 46%-35%.
The poll's ideological breakdown confirms how difficult it will be for Hutchison to beat Perry in the primary. Conservatives back Perry by +22%, and could carry the two term gov. to a relatively easy third term, if they dominate a low turn-out primary.
Kay responded to the poll and Rick's Drudge headline as well as some other issues today... Elise Hu got it all on tape (link) and blogs... "Hutchison Speaks, Says Little"...
Kay looks downtrodden in this video. She looks like she has just been hit with some bad news. The Rasmussen poll showing Kay down by 11 and showing that 60% of primary voters wanted her not to resign was all bad news for Kay.
I think it might be time for Kay to look in the mirror and ask whether she has a clear plan for victory...
Does this plan include resigning? If so, when? Does this plan include throwing some serious, serious mud at Rick, some of which might splash back onto her? Does this plan include introducing some actual policy plans at some point?
What is her plan?
With 109 days left before the primary... and with early voting beginning even two weeks before that... what are her plans?
Does she challenge Rick to a bunch of debates? She has already avoided this subject...
Does she start pumping cash into Debra Medina's campaign to siphon off votes? Not a winning strategy...
Does she go up with television advertisements over the holidays to try to change the game? I doubt she has enough money...
Is she depending on Cheney to bail her campaign out? He is a big deal but not a game changer with lots of energy like Palin...
Is she just hoping and waiting for Rick to make mistakes, or for the media to attack him for things like Willingham? This might be her only hope, and she can keep spreading the flames of bad news press behind the scenes? This strategy could also get Rick's allies in the conservative media to stand up for him even more...
Where does Kay go from here? Does she try radio advertisements? Something big and bold... campaign on ending the property tax entirely or something like that?
In the video above Kay looks sad and defeated. There is a lot of time left, but she just doesn't seem to have a good grasp on how she is going to win this election. Maybe that is why she has yet to resign... she is hedging her bets, and with the bets looking worse and worse she may just decide to not resign.

Hey now, campaign characters. Be nice. I know a lot of you on both sides, so I don't want any overly foul language, personal attacks on anyone other than the candidates themselves, or other party fouls. I will moderate the heck out of you if you start breaking the bounds of civility.
