This whole secession business...

Rick has been praised and criticized alike today for hinting at Texas secession. Drudge's headline yesterday screamed out that he was for secession. Watching the full video of his comments, however, Rick seems to be speaking out against secession, not for it (link)...

A lot of people would love to see Texas secede (we totally could have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for you meddling kids!), but it's not happening any time soon. It is funny how misleading headlines can drive the coverage of the news, though. Until I saw this video, I thought for sure Rick had actually called for Texas secession. I mean, blogs and MSNBC and talk radio shows were all saying that's what he said, so it had to be true, right?

"We've got a great union. There is absolutely no reason to dissolve it." doesn't seem to warrant the headlines that are out there.

Lesson (re)learned. Always do your own investigation. Don't rely on mainstream media or blogs or anything else. Go as close to the source as you can.

Hey now, campaign characters. Be nice. I know a lot of you on both sides, so I don't want any overly foul language, personal attacks on anyone other than the candidates themselves, or other party fouls. I will moderate the heck out of you if you start breaking the bounds of civility.
